Megan Thee Stallion Accepts Honor at 2024 Golden Heart Awards
Last Night (Oct. 21), Megan Thee Stallion accepted her GenLOVE Award for Outstanding Philanthropy at the 2024 Golden Heart Awards. She received this recognition for her work with the Pete & Thomas Foundation, which she founded to support women, children, senior citizens, and underserved communities.
“I lost my mom, I lost my dad, and I lost my grandmother,” Megan shared during her emotional speech, according to Harper's Bazaar. “They are the people who taught me the importance of giving back. I never saw giving back as a chore or a struggle. Anything my [family] could give, they would give. So I’m continuing on with their legacy.”
The annual gala highlights the charitable efforts of God’s Love We Deliver, which provides meals to those living with HIV, AIDS, cancer, and other serious illnesses. Other attendees included celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis, with a special performance from Sam Smith.
This honor Megan received comes days after she announced that her new album, Megan: Act II, will arrive this Friday (Oct. 25). Not much is known about the follow-up to Megan, released just this past June. However, a new documentary titled “Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words” is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on Oct. 31. Directed by Emmy winner Nneka Onuorah in collaboration with TIME Studios, Roc Nation, and Nneka Productions, this feature-length film provides a deep dive into the Houston rapper’s journey to stardom, offering “unprecedented access to the multi-faceted woman behind the persona.”
