Chris Brown Responds to Reports That He Is Struggling With Addiction and Anger
For members of Team Breezy and the general public alike, Grammy Award-winning R&B star Chris Brown and some of his controversies have left many people suspicious of what’s really going on with him.
But after recent episodes of an inflamed rap feud, a felony assault charge, a reported bipolar disorder diagnosis, restraining orders filed against him and an entire Billboard piece chronicling what they’ve named his “downward spiral,” those same people have called anger issues and drug use as the catalysts behind it all.
Breezy, however, insists otherwise.
In one of his usual videos, Breezy addresses the allegations that he’s been sinking into drug addiction and struggling with anger management, the overreaching basis behind Billboard’s feature. Instead, the Royalty crooner declared such suspicion arises only whenever he’s got a huge venture on the way.
“Y’all gotta stop with this angry s**t, this going through drugs and all this other s**t,” he said in the clip. “I’m tired of reading about some s**t as soon as I got something popping.”
Adding that the tabloids and media have always zeroed in on his intimate relationships and other personal matters to feed their agendas, he reminds everyone, per his luxury sports cars and other lavish living supplies, that he’s doing just fine despite popular opinion.
“I am not hurting out here,” he continues. “Trust me, y’all n****s got it f**ked up."
According to the in-depth feature, several incognito members from Breezy’s camp came forward to reveal that they fear for his well-being as a result of persistent drug use and failure to cope with his anger issues. They've also recalled explosive behavior from him, such as lashing out at his bodyguards and other celebrity personnel, pacing and even physically attacking a former manager. Billboard claims he’s now known as a “sleazy tabloid obsession” and sources from the feature also allege that the overwhelming majority of his controversies were direct results of heavy drug use that he thinks he can handle, but will soon realize that he can’t.
“He will cuss you out and say, ‘Hey, man, I’m functioning. I’m going to get the work out.’ And he does,” a close member of Brown’s team revealed, according to Billboard. “But [he’s not] the first functional star who thinks they can handle those powerful drugs. I got to say with all my heart, he’s dancing with death.”
Among the speculation, Brown’s Hot 97 interview with Ebro Darden regarding his lean and Xanax use is mentioned. Statements following his 2009 assault case with then-girlfriend and pop megastar Rihanna are also brought to the forefront, where, in a not-yet-released documentary, he said that he suffered from sleep deprivation, suicidal thoughts, empty appetites and was constantly getting high.
