Not satisfied with their considerable success in the record business, Cash Money is preparing to get into book publishing. Cash Money Content is a new book imprint from Bryan "Baby" Williams and his brother Ronald "Slim" Williams, and the publishing house has announced that its first releases will be the cult favorite works of 1960s street icon Iceberg Slim.
Slim (born Robert Lee Maupin) was a pimp from the Southside of Chicago whose novels are credited with popularizing the pimp lifestyle and street literature among hip hop fans. Rappers like Jay-Z, Ice Cube, Ice T and Slim Thug have all referenced him in their work.
Pimp: The Story of My Life, Iceberg Slim's first autobiographical novel, will be out on May 10 from Cash Money Content and Atria/Simon & Shuster. It was originally released in 1969 and sold 2.5 million copies. After Pimp, the new publishing group plans to release six other books by Slim.
