New Orleans rap breadwinner and head of Cash Money Records Birdman has racked up quite a few enemies in the industry at this point.

At the top of the list is Lil Wayne, who has struggled through two-year long legal tension with the Young Money captain and, more recently, Rick Ross, who aired his frustrations with Baby on “Idols Become Rivals.” But though Ricky Rozay pointed to Birdman’s alleged mistreatment of DJ Khaled on the track, the Grateful album curator admits that there’s nothing but love in the middle of the controversy.

Speaking with the trio of Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne The God kicked off the curiosity by specifically asking what it was that Birdman did to him. Khaled immediately made it clear across the airwaves that he and Baby are friends, expressing that he hoped for a truce called between any industry friends currently experiencing a relationship rift. He continued explaining that he moved on with his self-founded We The Best label after departing from Cash Money.

“Birdman, all that is, you know at one point I just moved on with We The Best,” he explained. “I got nothing but love for Birdman. They gave me an opportunity. For instance, I appreciate every opportunity that’s ever given to me. It doesn’t matter what happens to the opportunity, it’s an opportunity. It’s an opportunity and I’m grateful for that.”

Khaled also sent a kudos to Baby’s hip-hop legacy with more hopes that whatever bridges had been burned between him and other artists would soon be rebuilt. Of Ross’s Birdman-damning lyrics, Khaled said that he didn’t feel the words came from a malicious place. Because both men have always shared a brotherhood, Khaled said, he believes Ross’s guidance has been one of the most valuable elements of their relationship.

“At the end of the day, I got love for everybody. And I love Ross, I love Bird, I love Slim and I love everybody. And I hope that all of that stuff gets fixed one day.”
