Seven years after he transfixed the nation with an unprecedented and increasingly absurd multi-part musical melodrama, R. Kelly and IFC have announced the return of Trapped In The Closet. The cable network will air new episodes of Trapped In The Closet: The Next Installment beginning later this year.
Part opera, part video series, Trapped In The Closet debuted in 2005 with twelve original segments. R. Kelly released 10 additional installments in 2007.
The series follows the adventures of Kelly's character Sylvester, who wakes up from a night of careless infidelity only to be thrust into a never-ending spiral of dramatic confessions and intrigue. The expanding cast includes a pastor, his wife, his male lover and a little person named Big Man.
An exact air date for Trapped In The Closet: The Next Installment hasn't yet been announced. The series is written, produced and co-directed by R. Kelly, Jim Swaffield also directs.
