2022 NAACPIA: Sterling K. Brown Wins Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series

It’s his second NAACP Image Award.

Sterling K. Brown won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor In A Drama Series for his role as Randall Pearson on This Is Us.

During his acceptance speech, Brown got lively and a little comical. “You’ve got a brother bugging out,” the actor said. “Listen, there’s way too many white people in my show to win this thing, so I’ve got to say thank you, Black people, for voting for me. I really do appreciate it.”

Along with network personnel, Brown also thanked Dan Fogelman, who created the show, and his character and This Is Us writer-director Kay Oyegun as the voice of the Pearson’s.

Brown went up against Billy Porter (Pose), Damson Idris (Snowfall), Forest Whitaker (Godfather of Harlem), and Kofi Siriboe (Queen Sugar).

This is Sterling K. Brown’s second NAACP Image Award win. In 2017, he won the same award for This is Us. He’s been nominated eight times in total.
