Tupac To Be Honored With Posthumous Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star
Tupac Shakur is slated to be posthumously honored with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.
An announcement from the organization on Wednesday (May 31) noted that the hip-hop legend’s sister, Sekyiwa "Set" Shakur, will be accepting the honor on his behalf. The ceremony is scheduled for June 7 on Hollywood Boulevard.
Shakur's star will be issued in the "Recording" category. "Tupac Shakur was a rapper, actor, activist, poet, and revolutionary," Hollywood Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said in a statement, according to CBS News. "This iconic artist has continued to be part of the zeitgeist for decades after his passing and will continue to be an important cultural figure for many years to come."
Tupac To Have Oakland Street Named After Him
"Surely, as one of L.A.'s own, Tupac's star will be added to the list of most visited stars," Martinez added.
Earlier this month, Tupac was honored by Oakland’s city council, who voted to rename a street in the California city “Tupac Shakur Way.”
