BET Awards 2022: Rising Star Quinta Brunson is Career Goals Personified
Quinta Brunson is steadily on her way to becoming a household name thanks to her hit ABC comedy series Abbott Elementary. Still, the 32-year-old has been sharing her comedic stylings with the world for years before taking on the role of second-grade teacher Janine Teagues.
After going viral for her self-produced Instagram series Girl Who Has Never Been on a Nice Date, Quinta continued creating and producing for BuzzFeed Video and sold a few of her own shows to YouTube Red. The Philadelphia native is just getting started on her road to entertainment domination, but it’s safe to say she's off to a strong start. She went viral
Before creating one of the most successful shows currently on television, Quinta rose to fame thanks to her Instagram series The Girl Who Has Never Been on a Nice Date. These comedic snippets featured the popular catchphrase: “He got money.”
She did a TED Talk
In 2016, during an appearance at TEDx Talk at US San Diego, the actress and writer spoke about her upbringing, and the moment she realized she wanted to become a global content creator while highlighting her experience in the industry.
Abbott Elementary isn’t her only successful series
In 2016, the actress sold two web series, one scripted comedy called Broke for Youtube Red, which she wrote, produced, and starred in. The second was her mockumentary-style comedy, Up for Adoption, produced by Verizon's go90 video platform. Quinta’s performance in Broke earned her a nomination for “Best Acting in a Comedy” at the 2017 Streamy Awards.

She’s not afraid to try new things
In 2021, the star, who furthered her talents working with media giant Buzzfeed released a YouTube video explaining her early beginnings with the company and why she was deciding to leave. Quinta’s story proved that it’s ok to leave your comfort zone if it’s no longer benefiting you.
She was a part of history
In 2019, the multi-talented star joined the cast of the Robin Thede-created sketch comedy, A Black Lady Sketch Show. She served as a writer on the HBO shows, which became the first television series to have a writer’s room composed entirely of Black women.
