How This Pastor Responded When Armed Man Walked in Church

A Fayetteville, North Carolina, pastor disarmed a man that walked into his church during a New Year's Eve service.

A Fayetteville, North Carolina, pastor disarmed a man that walked into his church during a New Year's Eve service, the Fayetteville Observer reports. The visitor came into the Heal the Land Outreach Ministries with a rifle while Pastor Larry Wright was in the pulpit preaching about gun violence in the country.
The man was also holding ammunition. Wright's experience in the military allowed him to know immediately that the weapon was real. He stepped down and approached the man calmly, asking, "Can I help you?"
The armed man later told the congregation that God told him to come to the church before he did something bad. “If he was belligerent, I was going to tackle him,” Wright told the Fayetteville Observer
The deacons in the church embraced the man and sat him down and during an alter call at the end of the service the man "gave his life to Christ," according to Wright. The police showed up towards the end, but the pastor asked them to remain outside after keeping the man under control.
Wright said he plans to connect with the man in the near future to make sure that he gets the help he needs.
