On Sunday morning, Clay Cane, creator and producer of Holler If You Hear Me: Black and Gay in the Church, appeared on The Melissa Harris-Perry Show to talk about the groundbreaking documentary, which tells the stories of the Black LGBT community in the church who are struggling with faith and identity. 
Melissa Harris-Perry and Cane discussed the journeys of the characters in the film. "Part of what I like about Holler If You Hear Me is [it tells people] 'recognize me, see me, acknowledge that I'm standing in your presence.'" Harris-Perry drew a parallel between the stories in Holler to the history of the Black church. "It actually feels to me as what I always think about as the great gift of the African-American Christianity to world religion," she said. "The ability of Black communities, enslaved communities, communities living in Jim Crow, to see that God loved them, even when the rest of the world said that they weren't worthy. I kept seeing that in these queer folk. 'I know [what] the world is saying — and even quoting scripture to me that I am not loved — but I recognize a God that is different than that.'"  

The MSNBC host added the film crosses "another frontier" in the discussion about Black church. But the praise doesn't stop there, Twitter also joined in on the love.
