Common And Jennifer Hudson Tease Relationship Rumors On Her Talk Show
Common and Jennifer Hudson are stimulating rumors that they are dating, and it seems real from the looks of things.
In a tease for her upcoming episode on Monday (Jan. 22) that dropped last week, the "Imagine" rapper appears as a guest on the singer's eponymous daytime talk show, "The Jennifer Hudson Show," as reported by PEOPLE.
Although Hudson is known as a singer, she flexed her rapping chops in a cute freestyle to introduce Common. As the rapper walked out on stage to greet her, he gifted her with a beautiful bouquet while they shared a sweet hug.
While addressing him formally, she took no time to ask him the hot-button question on everyone's mind.
"Now, we gotta get down to business, Mr. Common. I'm a host and so I have to ask you this question 'cause everybody always wanna know this — are you dating anyone?" she asked.
Although he confirmed that he was dating, he did not reveal who.
"I'm in a relationship that is with one of the most beautiful people I ever met in life," he explained. "She's smart, she loves God, she has something real down-to-earth about her, she's talented."
He said that he had set his standards "high" with the special woman and that she was an EGOT winner.
In 2022, Hudson was crowned with the revered EGOT status following her Tony win for "A Strange Loop."
The "Testify" hitmaker then got his turn to interview her while asking if she was dating anyone. She assured them that she was "very happy" with whom she was dating, then asked him if he was happy with this moment in his life.
"This relationship is a happy place for me," Common answered. "Seeing her happy actually makes me really happy. So, I'm very grateful. I thank God each and every day, and I'm just letting God guide this relationship," he said.
Dating rumors began to spark in July 2022 between the talk show host and Common after they worked together on the set of "Breathe," slated to be released in 2024.
In 2022, Hudson addressed the speculation between her and the "Glory" rapper.
"People create their narratives of it and it’s like, OK, you know, how you feel," she explained to ET. "We shot a film together and he played my husband. We gotta eat in between those moments."
Whether they are just friends or more, the artists have been photographed spending time together.
In the summer of 2023, they reportedly traveled to London together, per Page Six, and in February, they were spotted having dinner at Nobu in Los Angeles.
Hudson has been careful not to play into the speculation; Common also has remained silent on the topic.
In July, while appearing on Today, Al Roker asked Common about the dating rumors, which garnered a huge smile and chuckle from him. Although not addressing if they are an item, he said, "I'll say, speaking of Chicago, she's a Chicagoan, this amazing human being — I've always been inspired by her," he replied.
