Don’t call it beginners luck. Yung Chris aka YC Worldwide laughs at the notion he won’t be able to come up with a buzzworthy follow up to his smash hit “Racks.” In fact, the Decatur, Georgia, rapper assures that this is just the beginning of a long run on the charts for him.
That confidence is backed by the acclaim YC has garnered for his ubiquitous single, which was nominated for a 2011 BET Hip Hop Award (Best Club Banger).
“It feels good to be nominated,” YC tells BET.com. “This is my first year in the game and to be nominated for an award that’s a good thing.”
The rap rookie chalks up his recent success as just the fruits of his relentless work ethic.
“I was just in the studio working you know. We went in and started working until we came out with ‘Racks’.”
Keeping up with the momentum garnered by his nominated club banger, YC is currently in the studio with Waka Flocka and hit-making production duo Cool & Dre. The Decatur, Georgia, native is out to prove the first time was no fluke. But before he delivers another home-run single, YC plans to release his Financial Aid mixtape prior to the release of his debut.
“Right now we in the process of just picking a second single,” says YC. “I got so many good songs I really don’t know which one I want to push as the second single, so I’m putting out this mixtape and letting the streets pick it off that.”
With features from Wale, Gucci Mane and others YC plans to drop his Financial Aid mixtape via the web on Halloween.
