Columbus Short Arrested for Skipping Court Hearings
Columbus Short has been arrested for failing to appear before a judge multiple times for his domestic violence case, TMZ reports. The former Scandal star was a no-show in court three times, instead opting to skip town to Barbados knowing there was a warrant out for his arrest in the United States.
Short's antics angered the judge presiding over the case so much that he upped Short's bail from $40,000 to a half a million dollars and ordered him to be arrested the minute he touched down on U.S. soil. Short is currently in custody at the Van Nuys courthouse, where he will soon appear before a judge.
To make matters worse, Short missed another hearing today, for his criminal battery case involving a man he beat up and left unconscious in a bar fight last year, because he was in custody for missing the domestic violence hearings. The judge presiding over the criminal battery case has issued a second warrant for his arrest, with bail set at $250,000.
Looks like the Los Angeles court system is sending a strong message to Short — face the music or spend time behind bars.
