Jay Z filed documents requesting that a judge withhold his financial records and criminal past from an ongoing lawsuit over the single “Big Pimpin,’” reports TMZ.

The 45-year-old Roc Nation label head is being is accused of illegally sampling music from an Egyptian composer.

A judge has yet to rule on Jay's request.

The plaintiff, Osama Ahmed, thinks that Jay’s criminal history and financial details matter because he claims the Brooklyn native stole the music sample. However, Hov argues that his personal information isn’t relevant to the case.

Ahmed is the nephew of deceased composer Baligh Hamdi, whose track "Khosara, Khosara" was used in the “Big Pimpin’” hook. 

Timbaland produced Jay's 2000 hit, and asserts that the sample was cleared from EMI Arabia.

The case's trial date is set for October 13.
