M-Bone Murder Investigation Stymied by Lack of Witnesses
Six weeks after the tragic murder of Cali Swag District rapper M-Bone ago, justice remains elusive. The Inglewood Police Department still have no suspect or motive in the shooting, which took place in front of a liquor store in Inglewood. In a new interview, Lieutenant Oscar Serrano of the Inglewood Police Department, who is working the case, said a lack of cooperative witnesses was to blame.
"When witnesses don't want to come out and talk, that's a challenge," he said in an interview with Time Magazine. "It's proven to be a challenge in these types of shootings, and it's a challenge right now."
Serrano said the IPD continues to look for leads in the M-Bone, born Monte' Ray Talbert, case. The police so far haven't been able to identify a reason for the slaying. Those close to Talbert blame rampant, unchecked violence in Inglewood for his death.
"The violence is crazy here," said Cory "Smoove" Fowler, a fellow Cali Swag District member. "The area speaks for itself."
Cali Swag District, who found national fame with their viral dance smash "Teach Me How to Dougie," paid respect to their fallen brother during a special tribute at the 2011 BET Awards this past weekend.
