Lupe Fiasco Quits Twitter, Passes Account to Singer/Songwriter

“Lasers” emcee gives Nikki Jean his Twitter account.

If you follow Lupe Fiasco on Twitter, you might want to check to see who those tweets are really coming from. The Chicago emcee announced today, via Twitter, that he was quitting the site. He then handed it—and his 722,000+ followers—over to Nikki Jean. The singer/songwriter wasted no time in promoting her new album, Pennies in a Jar. Fiasco and Jean have previously collaborated on “Hip-hop Saved My Life,” which appeared on his second album, The Cool, as well as on “Steel And Feathers (Don’t Ever)” on her new album.
Fiasco’s parting words: “i'm quitting twitter. it was fun while it lasted... thanks for the support on #lasers and i will see you all on the road soon... don't forget...Love Always Shines Everytime Remember 2 Smile.... u know what??? i'm gonna let @NIKKIJEAN takeover my twitter -- go get that album http://bit.ly/nikkijeanitunes
It remains to be seen if Fiasco is really gone from Twitter, as this handoff came just one day after the release of Jean’s album. The singer even hinted that it’s not forever with one of her tweets on his account: “Big thank you to @LupeFiasco for supporting my record. He won't be gone for too long.. Promise ;-)”
