Watch: Muhammad Ali's Body Transported to Louisville and Details on His Public Funeral Released
"The Greatest" has come home.
A private plane carrying the body of late boxing champion, global sports icon and world humanitarian Muhammad Ali was transported to his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, on Sunday afternoon. The beloved legend died at the age of 74 late Friday night.
Wrapped in a black cloth with Arabic scriptures written in gold on it, the casket was escorted by police to a local funeral home, where Ali's family will hold a private ceremony Thursday, according to the Daily Mail.
From there, a public ceremony and procession is scheduled for Friday afternoon at the KFC Yum Center in Louisville. Tickets will be limited, but the entire public ceremony will be streamed online. Former president Bill Clinton, Bryant Gumbel and Billy Crystal have been confirmed to eulogize Ali.
As the world continues to mourn the huge loss of Ali, his daughter, Hana, released the following message on Saturday.
We're sure that Ali will get the kind of send off fit for a king in Louisville later this week.
After all, he was "The Greatest" and is more than deserving of the treatment.
We will never forget the one and only Muhammad Ali.
