Future Reveals the One Sacrifice He Almost Made for Ciara

“They had me going the cornball route!”

Future has been more than generous to the FutureHive with his February two-fold album releases of Future and HNDRXXX, creating loud buzz and speculation around the touchy, conflicted lyricism of both projects.

In a new interview with Billboard, however, Fewtch got even more up close and personal about his fan-favorite subject matter, pharmaceuticals, and how his former relationship with R&B songstress Ciara nearly ended it all.

Discussing how the projects landmarked critical stages in his life, ultimately landing him in a happier place now, Future recalled some of what it took to adapt to his previous relationship with CeeCee. He claimed that curbing marijuana and codeine use, to name a few, were some of the adjustments he attempted while dating the mother of his 2-year-old son.

“They had me going the cornball route!” he told Billboard.

The Purple Rain rapper also admitted that his talk of women on both of the albums included other relationships that remained out of the public eye — not just Ciara. Of his newfound place and stage in life, he fortunately shared that his major concern is becoming a better person and promising not to give up on himself.

“I’m just not going to settle for anything, you know?” he said. “Even in my life now, I know I can be a better person. I ain’t giving up on myself, so if you give up on me, I ain’t got nothing else to say for you. Because if you give up on something that’s real, it wasn’t real to you.”

What has become very real for Fewtch also, something he touched on lightly in the interview, is the Donald Trump presidency. Discussing how he clowned one of his entourage members for booking a stay at one of Trump’s hotels, Fewtch declared that he wanted no mention of the former reality television star’s name printed in the article.

“I ain’t even rocking with that sh**, you dig what I’m saying?,” he said. “I don’t even want that name in my interview.”

Flashing the shiny, jeweled fruits of his lavish rap career with diamond rings, Cartier bracelets and even a Chanel rosary, he said that he wanted everyone to know that regardless of where they come from, his status is always achievable for those willing to go get it.
