Cee Lo Green Pleads Not Guilty to Ecstasy Charge
Cee Lo Green has plead not guilty to a charge of furnishing a controlled substance, stemming from an incident in which he allegedly gave a woman ecstasy before having sex with her, TMZ reports. The rapper and The Voice host is out on $30,000 bond and is expecting to turn himself in for booking within 24 hours. A hearing has been set for next month and, if convicted, Green could face up to four years in prison.
There is a silver lining for the Goodie Mob member. Charges of sexual assault were dropped by prosecutors due to insufficient evidence. His attorney says, “we are pleased that the Los Angeles County District Attorney has completed its investigation and concluded that the evidence did not support the false and unfounded claims made over a year ago." The woman with whom Green had sexual relations claimed assault under the influence of ecstasy, while Green maintains that the encounter was consensual.
His lawyer concludes, "we will address the charge of furnishing a controlled substance responsibly in court."
