Samuel L. Jackson Narrates Children’s Book Go the F--k to Sleep \r
Samuel L. Jackson is known for dropping an f-bomb (or five) on screen, and now he’s cussing out the kids in a book called Go the F--k to Sleep.
The “bed-time” tale by Adam Mansbach looks innocent enough, with charming illustrations by Ricardo Cortes, but its profanity-laced rhyme scheme is more for adults than kids—even if your name is Bae Bae. Still, anyone who's ever been frustrated by the process of trying to put a child to bed or ever been kept awake by a tot wailing in the midnight hour can find the humor in lines like this (especially when read in Jackson’s hilarious, ranting baritone):
"All the kids from daycare are in dreamland
The froggy has made his last leap
Hell no, you can't go to the bathroom
You know where you can go?
The f--k to sleep."
The project all started with a series of joking Facebook status updates written by Mansbach when he couldn’t get his two-year-old to sleep. When his friends “liked” the content, he began writing the story for real, a publisher was interested and the book quickly shot to No. 1 on the Amazon best seller list last month before it was even released.
Now the movie rights have been optioned and Jackson takes the whole project to the next level with his ranting narration on the official audio book. For a limited time audible.com is offering a download of the recording for free. Just make sure you throw on some headphones before you play it at work or around any actual kiddies.
