Kean University Receives Death Threats Targeting Black Students
Kean University is looking to identify the individual behind tweets that were threatening to shoot and kill Black students on campus Tuesday night.
Students alerted university officials about the messages around 10 p.m. amid protests taking place at the school that stood in solidarity against racial injustice at Mizzou and other college campuses.
"i will kill every black male and female at kean university," the account called @keanuagainstblk tweeted. The account was suspended Wednesday morning.
The university sent a message to students ensuring that they were acting to protect their safety.
"Approximately 100 Kean University students participated in a peaceful rally on campus last evening with 10 students spending the night at the clocktower, joining students across the nation to raise awareness of recent racial unrest at the University of Missouri and other college campuses," the university said, according to NewJersey.com.
