Hip Hop Awards 2022: See Which Rappers Have Mastered the Art of Winning

Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Kanye West rank among some of this awards show’s long-time winners.

These following hip hop artists have crushed the music industry’s music charts and have been rewarded graciously. Musicians such as Grammy Award-winning rappers Kanye West and Lil Wayne who both tie with 16 wins each in various categories.  They have come on top every time, making them some of the biggest winners in BET Hip Hop Awards history. Join us as we look back at some of the biggest winners as we prepare for another fantastic BET Hip Hop Awards later this fall.

  • Drake with 20 Wins

    Canadian rap star Drake has amassed 20 BET Hip Hop Awards trophies in his career, earning his first win at the 2009 ceremony for “Rookie of the Year,” beating several then-rising stars, including B.o.B, Dorrugh, Kid Cudi, and Wale. The following year he was awarded “MVP of the Year.”

  • Kendrick Lamar with 19 Wins

    West Coast legend Kendrick Lamar comes in right after Drake with 19 wins. The “Purple Hearts” emcee led the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards with 14 nominations. The rapper ultimately took home five  trophies, including “Lyricist of the Year,” “MVP of the Year,” and “Album of the Year.”

  • Cardi B. with 14 Wins

    Bronx native Cardi B. is the only female on this list, coming in with 14 wins. The 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards, hosted by the 85 South, was a big year for the female emcee, who left the ceremony with three trophies, including “Song of the Year,” “Best Hip Hop Video,” and “Best Collaboration” for “WAP” feature Megan Thee Stallion.
