Jay Bowdy Was Reportedly Arrested for Sex Crime Days Before He Committed Suicide on Facebook Live
News broke yesterday of aspiring actor Jay Bowdy's suicide, which he live streamed on Facebook Live.
Now, new details have emerged on the occurrences prior to the incident, with Bowdy being reportedly arrested on suspicion of sexual assault days before.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the coroner's office identified the man as Frederick Jay Bowdy when he told his followers to watch him via live stream as he was going to commit suicide. Sgt. Tiffany Ljubetic reported that this prompted one of his out-of-state family members to call the Los Angeles Police department at about 5:30 a.m.
By the time the police acted on the call and tried to reach Bowdy, he was in a car near Cumpston Street and Fulcher Avenue and had already committed suicide before they could contact him.
The Times reported that while the coroner's office was set to rule on the cause of his death this week, Lt. Larry Dietz concluded that his death was a suicide.
On Thursday morning, days prior to his death, Bowdy was arrested in Santa Clarita on the suspicion of sexual assault. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Janice Banks reported that he was released on Friday after posting $100,000 bail.
