Former Destiny's Child member Farrah Franklin found herself on the wrong side of the law this past weekend, but the 29-year-old singer is claiming that she was a victim of an injustice. Franklin, who was arrested early Saturday morning for disorderly conduct, says California’s Culver City Police racially profiled and "manhandled" her.
"Unfortunately, I am the latest victim on what seems to be a growing list of those who are racially profiled and mistreated by Culver City Police," Franklin told TMZ.com. "I was manhandled by the arresting officers."
The exact circumstances of the singer's arrest, and how the alleged racial profiling took place are unclear. According to TMZ, alcohol may have been involved.
Franklin says she was made to take off her top in front of male officers and felt she was treated unfairly. She claims she has never had trouble with the law before and doesn't plan to take this incident lying down. Taking to her Twitter account, Franklin had this to say to her fans.
"YES, I'm okay & YES there WILL be a lawsuit ! FUCK da Culver City Police !!!! You cant keep a good girl down #RealTalk !"
