Drake Took The $900K Budget For His "God's Plan" Video And Did Something Amazing
Drake just dropped the music video for his single “God’s Plan,” it has most of his fans in tears. The extravagant video originally had a budget of nearly $1 million, but instead of using it to shoot in a big mansion with a bunch of foreign cars, Drake took the money and did something absolutely extraordinary with it.
“The budget for this video was $996,631.90. We gave it all away. Don’t tell the label,” the opening credits read. In the Karena Evans-directed visuals, cameras follow Drizzy around has he divvies out the money to high school and college students, single mothers, and Black families in the Miami area.
The video follows several reports about the 31-year-old’s streak of good deeds. As shown in the video, he gifted one college student with a $50,000 check to pay off her tuition; he donated $20,000 to a Miami high school; treated a number of single women to a shopping spree at Sax Fifth Avenue; and presented wads of cash to mothers and other families.
The day before the video dropped (Feb. 15), Drake announced that his mission in Miami was “the most important thing I have ever done in my career.” While Drake has topped the chart and broken tons of streaming records, we would have to agree with what he said.
Following the release, fans hopped on Twitter to commend the rapper on his generosity of heart. Check out the “God’s Plan” video and fan reactions below.
