Frank Ocean’s Performs For The First Time In Six Years In Return To Coachella Stage
Frank Ocean took the stage for his first performance in six years on Sunday night (April 16) at Coachella as the third and final headliner.
On the ground at the annual music festival, fans were unsure when or even if the Blonde singer would perform as Billboard reports that signs reading “NO FRANK OCEAN MERCHANDISE” were hung all over the merch tent. On top of that, Ocean didn’t go on until an hour after he was scheduled to perform, but did as the main stage lights dimmed at 10:55 p.m. and his set began.
Coupled with the set was the announcement by Coachella that it would not be livestreamed on their official YouTube channel. Several other high-profile performers at the festival, including Bjork and Jai Paul, also did not participate in the livestream.

This had fans on social media waiting to catch Ocean’s set online scrambling. They also reacted overall to what was happening on the ground in the California desert, including the possibility he could be performing previously unheard music.
Some did catch video of the set and shared it.
Frank Ocean’s highly-anticipated set comes three years after he, along with Travis Scott and Rage Against the Machine, were slated to take over the 2020 edition of the festival. That event, of course, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ocean released his last album, Blonde, in 2016 but has gone under the radar, making sporadic appearances and song releases since, but not much to talk about, so Sunday night was a big moment for fans and the artist himself.
Outside of music, Frank has been exploring other creative ventures, including photography, fashion and even signing a deal with A24 to direct a movie.
