BET Awards 2022: Meet Major League DJz, The Twin Duo Bringing the Popularizing the Kwaito Sound

Twin brothers Bandile and Banele Mbere, better known as the deejaying duo Major League DJz are revolutionizing the kwaito sound. The South African-based group found their love for music after moving from Boston, Ma, to Johannesburg at a young age. There, their father taught them how to play and master the piano and introduced them to various genres of music, including jazz, gospel, r&b, and hip hop. The pair have already made massive contributions to the music industry and have worked with and for several significant artists like 50 Cent and Akon.

At the upcoming BET Awards 2022, the duo will go up against some of the biggest rising stars in international music, including Tems, Little Simz, and many more.     Bandile and Banelle were born in Boston, Ma. However, when they were about four years old, their father, a South African ambassador, moved his family to Johannesburg, S.A., following the fall of apartheid.

    Their father was a music lover and a skillful pianist who taught the duo how to play. He would also play various music genres, including gospel, jazz, r&b, hip hop, and more.

  • They’re known for popularizing the Kwaito sound

    When they’re not on tour, Major League DJz could be heard providing weekly mixes for uKhozi FM and Mafikeng FM. The groups musical influences have enabled them to revolutionized the Kwaito sound.
