Swizz Beatz Revamps New York Knicks Theme Song For Playoffs
Swizz Beatz, the consummate New Yorker, was tapped by the New York Knicks to upgrade the basketball team's theme song "Go New York," just in time for the NBA Playoffs.
Beatz told MTV News, "As far as music-wise, my job is to make sure I make an anthem that takes the game level from point A to point B, keep the crowd hype."
This isn't the first time the Knicks requested one of New York's finest hip-hop stars to put a new spin on the track. Q-Tip and A Tribe Called Quest have also been put to the task.
A die-hard fan of the team, Beatz said he is up for the challenge and plans to "just doing what I do. Just like what the players gonna do, what they gonna do on the court. It's just a joint effort to raise the bar for New York."
The track and corresponding video will premiere during the opening playoff on Saturday, April 16.
