Last week, Cam Newton celebrated a touchdown by doing an unusual dance in the end zone: cradling the football like a baby he was rocking to sleep. Now, we know the reason why — Newton and his girlfriend Kia Proctor recently welcomed a baby boy!
Newton shared the news on Twitter Wednesday night, writing, “My longtime girlfriend and I were extremely blessed to have a son last week. Our family is excited and thank you all for the well wishes!”

He added that he waited to share the news to keep the focus on football. “I’ve been quiet about this because I didn’t want to create a distraction for my team and appreciate the privacy in this joyous time,” he tweeted.
We don't know much else about the baby except that he was born on Christmas Eve in Atlanta and the Carolina Panthers quarterback left practice early that day to be at his girlfriend's side for the birth. 
Congratulations to Cam and Kia! Now if he gets that MVP, it will be a perfect year for the family. As for being a distraction, we think it's probably a welcome one considering what some of his teammates have been up to lately.
