Gone Too Soon: Jamyla Bolden, 9, Fatally Shot at Home in Ferguson
The family of Jamyla Bolden is mourning the killing of the 9-year-old girl, who was shot after an unknown shooter fired into her Ferguson, Missouri, home Tuesday night, Fox 2 News reported. The girl was sitting on her mother's bed doing her homework when she was struck around 9:30 p.m., according to the St. Louis Dispatch.
The girl's grandmother held Jamyla and told her to keep breathing before cops arrived and did their best to keep her alive. The girl later died. Jamyla's mother was also shot and treated for her wounds. She has reportedly been released from the hospital, authorities say.
Jamyla's grandmother says her husband and Jamyla's brother were also at home at the time of the shooting. They were not injured.
Her family members say that the armed person probably aimed gunshots through the bedroom window. Five bullet holes were found in the back of the house.
Jamyla was a fourth grader at Koch Elementary school.
Police are searching for the killer who took the life of this innocent child much too soon.
