Eminem's Graduation Gift to Flint Students Will Make You Wish He Came to Yours
May’s prom and graduation season always brings grants, gifts and gratitude as high school students jump the educational milestone into the adult chapter of the world.
And for those who are still calling it a competition, Eminem has officially topped it off after gifting Flint high school graduates with Beats by Dre headphones and a special congratulations to all those walking the stage on Tuesday (June 6).
The grad ceremony, held at the Dort Event Center in Flint, was packed with excited graduates who held their diploma in one hand and their pair of Beats in the other after retreating the stage. He couldn’t quite be there in person, but his face across the huge Jumbo-tron with a special message certainly sufficed.
“What’s up Class of 2017?” he said on the speaker. “This is Eminem. I was want to say, man, congratulations to the graduating seniors of [Flint Community Schools]. Congrats to all you guys’ hard work, man. You earned this moment.”
While Eminem has remained relatively quiet on the hip-hop scene, this doesn't make the first time this year that he's channeled the charitable side of Slim Shady. The Detroit native recently teamed with British Red Cross, along with Justin Timberlake, to help raise $2 million for victims of the Manchester Arena attack that left several fatalities and critical injuries to the city's citizens.
Huge kudos to you, Em.
