Justin Bieber Arrested for ATV Accident With Paparazzi
Justin Bieber got quite the homecoming this weekend. Bieber, 20, was arrested in his native Ontario, Canada, Friday (Aug. 29) following an ATV collision with paparazzi, TMZ reports. The singer crashed the four-wheeler into a van driven by a photog, leading to a physical confrontation of some sort between the two.
Bieber was taken in on dangerous driving and assault charges, and released soon after, Ontario Provincial Police said Monday. It is unclear if he, or the paparazzi, sustained any injuries.
Prior to the run-in, his second crash in a week with paparazzi, Bieber was photographed riding Selena Gomez around on his ATV. The on-again, off-again couple were enjoying a "peaceful retreat" that was "disrupted by the unwelcome presence of the paparazzi," Bieber's lawyer said in a statement to ABC News. "This has regrettably resulted in charges of dangerous driving and assault," his attorney, Brian H. Greenspan, explained. "Mr. Bieber and Ms. Gomez have fully cooperated in the police investigation. We are hopeful that this matter will be quickly resolved."
Bieber's arrest could trigger a parole violation, stemming from his California egging case at the top of the year, which preceded his Miami DUI bust weeks later. Canadian authorities also arrested him for allegedly assaulting a paparazzi member in January as well.
For his latest assault charge, Bieber is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Sept. 29.
