Wheelchair Organization Wants Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj received backlash from the disabled community after she posted a video of herself on Instagram dressed as a fairy, waving her wand at what appears to be a wheelchair-bound person and calling on them to walk.
While some believe Nicki meant no harm by the video, the ball’s in her court as the Queens, N.Y., rapper has the opportunity to save face with the handicapped community. According to TMZ, Joe Martinez, co-founder of disability rights activist group Freedom 2 Roll, is offering Minaj a chance to show support for his cause.
Martinez reportedly reached out to Nicki's camp asking her to ride a Hovertrax board with his group at the 84th Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade. He says she didn't intend harm with the post and wants to help bolster her public profile with the disabled community. Nicki has yet to respond to Martinez’s request.
She previously responded to Perez Hilton on Twitter after her video became news. She said the person that appeared handicapped is her friend and that the website was “desperate” for attention.
