The South has been the backdrop for some of the best American cinema of the past decade, and the tradition continues with Beautiful Creatures. 
The supernatural love story is based on the New York Times best-selling novel of the same name, and follows a hauntingly intense coming-of-age story about two star-crossed teenage lovers, local boy Ethan (Alden Ehrenreich) and a mysterious new girl, Lena (Alice Englert), who uncover dark secrets about their families, their history and their town.
Oscar-nominated actress Viola Davis plays Amma, a local woman with profound spiritual insight who takes care of Ethan and his father after the death of Ethan's mother. Emma Thompson rounds out the cast as a religious zealot who becomes possessed by a witch. 
Beautiful Creatures hits theaters in February 2013.
