Y’all Win: Michelle Williams Announces Split From Problematic Fiancé Chad Johnson
Michelle Williams recently revealed that she has ultimately decided to end her engagement with her fiancé, pastor Chad Johnson.
The Destiny's Child alum shared the news with her followers through her Instagram Story on Friday morning, the same day she dropped her newest single, "Fearless."
"I still remain fearless," she wrote. "I guess I still remain single! Things didn't work out. The healing that needs to take place is a must! I don't wanna destroy another relationship. Blessings to him, his family and ministry. #FEARLESS."
Take a look at her post, below:
The now former couple first met in March 2017 at an Arizona spiritual retreat run and hosted by Johnson, who works primarily as a life coach and a chaplain for professional sports teams including the Pittsburgh Steelers and the L.A. Dodgers.
The two hit a rough patch when the "Say Yes" crooner broke off their engagement, twice, in the weeks following Johnson popping the question. Just three months later, Williams was hospitalized and, soon after, entered a treatment facility for severe depression.
After completing treatment, she embarked on a reality TV journey with Johnson through their own series, Chad Loves Michelle, on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
The show, which offered an intimate look into their relationship and their rocky road to the altar, notoriously showed Johnson seemingly mocking her mental health during a disagreement about their racial differences.
During the discussion, in response to Williams bringing up their differing methods of communication due to them being of different races, Johnson asked if she had "taken her meds," giving many the impression that he was throwing her recent mental health struggles in her face.
Fans should not worry about Williams, though, as she told People in a recent interview, "Don't lose hope in love... I started taking myself out; I started traveling by myself, to the point where I loved being by myself. Just don't lose hope."
