Hip-Hop Welcomes Meek Mill Home After Jail Release
Oh, happy day!
Philly rap icon Meek Mill is a free man as of Tuesday evening (April 24) after his long-awaited jail release, a severe imprisonment imposed by Judge Genece Brinkley that held two to four potential years behind bars.
The Dreamchasers emcee’s immediate release was ordered by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and overruled Brinkley’s longstanding decision to keep him locked away for the full jailing term. Upon his exit, Meek made sure to send only his deepest thanks to God, his family, friends, fans, legal team and supporters who persistently rallied for his justice. The Dreams & Nightmares artist described the five months he spent in jail as “a nightmare,” but acknowledged the “prayers, visits, calls, letters and rallied” that helped keep him afloat. In celebration of his release, Meek’s first stop was right in his hometown at the Philadelphia 76ers playoffs game with his son, Papi, as he received love on and off the court from the team and its co-owner Michael Rubin.
Now that he’s officially out of the pen and back on the scene, the rest of Hollywood is joining the sports world by hailing their salutations to Meek for his official homecoming.
