John Legend Is In The Television Business
The crooner will produce an NBC show.
John Legend may specialize in moody love songs, but now he’s dipping a big toe in the comedy pool. According to Deadline, he and partner Mike Jackson just signed a deal to executive produce a show for NBC. Titled Mixed Blessings, the show is inspired by Jackson’s childhood. It will follow the journey of a successful black hip-hop artist who discovers that he has a teenage son and tried to connect with the kid and his white adoptive parents. Culture shock hi-jinks are sure to ensue.
The single-camera comedy will be written by Rob Pearlstein, who wrote episodes of Medium.
