Lil Nas X Takes Center Stage in Coach's Latest Winter Campaign
The Lil Nas X and Coach collaboration is only going to get stronger in 2024.
According to WWD, the brand is set to launch a campaign featuring the singer, showcasing looks he personally curated from the Coach winter collection. The "Lil Nas X Drop" capsule places a focus on items that the artist personally selected and customized in consultation with Stuart Vevers, Coach's creative director.
The collection includes vibrant shearling coats, graphics inspired by concert merchandise, and a personalized American varsity jacket adorned with patches representing symbols from Lil Nas X's life, such as his pet cats and zodiac sign, Aries.
Vevers shared of the collaboration, "Our winter collection is inspired by my belief that fashion is about exploring and celebrating all of who you are. To create the collection, we twisted the Coach archives and were also inspired by Lil Nas X’s connection to music and nightlife. We evolved heritage styles introduced on the runway last season by amplifying color, texture, and graphics to create pieces that celebrate our love for individuality and authentic self-expression that we share."
The entire Coach winter collection features quintessential American pieces like leather biker and shearling jackets, T-shirts, sweatshirts, and bags adorned with acid graphics and vibrant colors.
The Lil Nas X Drop will be available for purchase in select Coach stores and on coach.com starting on December 26.
Building on the momentum of Fall 2023, Coach's last fall/winter collection aligned with Vevers' vision of bridging the brand's illustrious heritage with contemporary fashion. The brand’s ongoing effort reflected Vevers' decade-long pursuit of incorporating Coach’s venerable history into modern-day dressing.
This time last year, the brand presented a winter-ready collection that combined American heritage, pop culture, and a youthful spirit while continuing its commitment to sustainability through the (Re)Loved initiative. The "Old Town Road" artist created a special capsule for the collection that added an extra touch of modern flair.
Inspired by the musician's ensemble at the Fall 2023 show, which featured a cropped pink shearling jacket, marled red turtleneck, jeans, and mismatched earrings (one of which matched the red lollipop he enjoyed while making an entrance), Coach used this look as a foundation for the Winter 2023 collection. The brand even returned to the Armory for a photo shoot, capturing models in a selfie-style pose to reflect it’s turn to a more contemporary aesthetic.
