In a candid conversation with Shannon Sharpe on “Club Shay Shay,” the Bronx rapper reflected on his difficult past, saying, "I had the cops on me. The cops tried to frame me, like, three times for murder. This is a true story. I don’t really talk about it but framed. The police was trying to get me out of there! The people was trying to get me out of there!"

Despite the intense scrutiny, Joe credited his community for having his back during these tough times. "It was like public enemy number one, but my community loved me so they would protect me. On a lighter note, Joe has fully embraced his "Uncle Joe" title to Ashanti’s newborn. In an interview with PEOPLE, he couldn’t contain his excitement about reconnecting with his longtime friend and collaborator, praising Ashanti for effortlessly stepping into motherhood. “I am Uncle Joe, and she is the best mom in the world,” he shared.

The “Lean Back” hitmaker couldn’t help but brag about the baby, adding, “That baby is beyond beautiful. When they let you see that baby — like Muhammad Ali, that baby." He said, "I just kept bragging for like a week to every random person I met. I was like, ‘Her baby's crazy.’ Yo, he's so beautiful. God bless this baby. I'm just done. Nelly and Ashanti — you know, they are beautiful. I'm telling you, this baby is different; he’s like royalty, and he sits there like — I don't know how to explain it to you.”
