Tyler Perry Hosted A House Party For The Premieres Of His Series ‘Sistas’ And ‘The Oval,’ And It Was Lit
The hottest invitation in Hollywood on Wednesday night (October 23) was to Tyler Perry’s house, where the filmmaker and media mogul hosted a watch party for the casts of his brand-new series, Sistas and The Oval, airing on BET.
While this was an exclusive get together for Tyler’s closest friends and colleagues — including Tyler Perry’s The Oval stars Ed Quinn and Kron Moore, Tyler Perry’s Sistas lead cast members KJ Smith, Mignon, Ebony Obsidian, Novi Brown and many more — we managed to get an invite and permission to share all the details from the soiree with you.
It all started with a grand welcome. Guests arrived at TP’s Beverly Hills residence to a huge spread of food and a fully stocked bar — and Tyler sitting behind a baby grand piano playing a tune:
After grabbing a drink and a snack, the guests joined Tyler in saying grace before the screenings and tweeting began. Everyone then spread out between two rooms: the opulent sitting room and the cozy home theater, where the shows were simulcast.
The spread went far beyond popcorn and Red Vines, by the way. Guests dined on fried chicken, pulled pork sandwiches, mac & cheese, collard greens and jambalaya, and those with a sweet tooth had a choice of apple crumble, chocolate soufflé and lemon meringue pie. Yum!

And then it was show time! Season one is just getting started, but these casts are clearly already family. It was heartwarming to see these rising stars cheering each other on — especially when the scenes got a little NSFW!
Commercial breaks were almost as fun as the show itself. Tyler made sure the energy stayed high by blasting music during the breaks, and it didn’t take much to get everybody on their feet dancing. And when there was no music, some folks went a cappella:
