Latto Says Working with Mariah Carey Left Her Feeling Like ‘Anything is Possible’
Latto says collaborating with the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Mariah Carey made her feel the possibilities were limitless.
In a recent interview with CNN, the Atlanta-based rapper delved into her experiences collaborating with iconic figures in the industry, Carey being one of them. Latto enlisted the r&b icon for the remix of her hit single "Big Energy," which cleverly samples Tom Tom Club's 1981 track "Genius Of Love" – a melody most notably associated with the singer’s 1995 hit "Fantasy."
The opportunity left Latto with a heightened sense of confidence. “I feel like anything is possible at this point. I’ll just be praying and working hard, and it just be like kind of falling in my lap for real,” she told the news outlet before adding, “Once you work with Mariah Carey, anything is possible.”
The 24-year-old has worked with several since garnering attention for tracks, including her 2020 single “Queen of da Souf.” She teamed up with rap pioneer Rakim to remake the 1992 classic, “Don’t Sweat the Technique,” as part of Sprite’s global music program, Sprite Limelight. Most recently, Latto linked up with Cardi B. for the "Put It On Da Floor remix.”
