Cardi B Jokes She’s Filing For Nigerian Citizenship After ‘WWIII’ Memes Trend On Twitter
Amid mounting tension between the U.S. and Iran that could possibly lead to an all-out global conflict, Cardi B already has an escape plan in mind.
There’s been talk of war after President Donald Trump assassinated Iranian military general Qassem Suleimani and Iraqi militant Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis last week. Both men were killed in a drone strike Trump ordered on the Iraq’s capital city Baghdad last Thursday (Jan. 1), according to CNN.
Black Twitter responded to the national sense of despair with memes that quickly flooded the timeline.
“Naaaaa these memes are fuckin [cold sweat emoji] but s**t ain’t no joke! ‘Specially [with me] being from New York,” Cardi said in response. On a more serious note, the Bronx rapper criticized Trump for needlessly “putting Americans [sic] live in danger. Dumbest move Trump did till date.”
“I’m filing for my Nigerian citizenship,” she jokingly added. Cardi went on to say she’s in the process of "picking out [her] tribe" and petitioned her eight million followers to help her convince Offset, her husband and father of her child, to “move with [her].”
It didn’t take long for the Nigerian government to catch wind of Cardi’s tweet
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the chairwoman of Nigeria’s Diaspora Commission, welcomed the Invasion of Privacy rap artist back to the African nation with open arms. Most recently, Cardi visited Nigeria and Ghana on an excursion to the African continent.
“As one in charge of the Diaspora for [Nigeria], we can't wait to receive you again," Dabiri-Erewa said. “Our doors are open, sister. And you need to [take] a walk through the Door of Return in Badagry. It's an indescribable experience.”
Bashir Ahmad, personal assistant to Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari, also saw Cardi’s tweet and stepped in to help the rapper decide what her next country of residence should be.
“Nigeria vs Ghana, case closed,” Ahmad said.
In the latest development on Middle East-U.S. relations, Iraq's Parliament voted to boot American troops from its soil on Sunday (Jan. 4), according to CNN.
