Police Investigate The Mysterious Murder Of A Young Mom Who Was Beaten To Death While House Sitting

Shawneeq Carter's relatives say her 5-year-old son was present at the time of her murder.

Police in New Jersey have opened an investigation into the murder of a woman they say was beaten to death while house sitting.

Shawneeq Carter, 26, was house sitting in Woodbury on Saturday night when she was killed from blunt force trauma, reported NJ.com.

Carter's cousin Derrick Parks told NBC10 her 5-year-old son, as well as another child, was present at the time of the killing; however, police have not yet said if her son witnessed the attack.

As no suspects have yet been identified, Carter's family is urging the culprit to come forward.

"Whoever you are, I forgive you," Parks told NBC 10. "My family forgives you and we just want to see justice be done."

The residents of the home where Carter was found were not present at the time of the discovery.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Warren Rivell of the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office at 856-384-5625 or Det. Carl Villone of the Woodbury City Police Department at 856-845-0065.
