Nick Cannon marched with hundreds of people in St. Louis on Saturday night (September 16) protesting the acquittal of a white police officer who shot to death a black man in 2011.

A Missouri City judge ruled on Friday that officer Jason Stockley was not guilty of murdering Anthony Lamar Smith. The decision sparked protests in the city over Friday and Saturday nights, causing at least 38 arrests.

Hundreds of people initially turned out and peacefully protested, however after things began getting violent on Friday night, law enforcement broke up the crowd with tear gas.

Among the protesters was Nick Cannon, who appeared in numerous social media posts of the marches in St. Louis. He was also wearing a Colin Kaepernick jersey becoming yet another celebrity to come out in support of the former 49ers quarterback.

Cannon was filmed raising his fists alongside people chanting “no justice, no profit.”

The original incident that sparked protest came after officer Stockley was found not guilty of first-degree murder, despite him taking his personal assault rifle on duty and reportedly remarking that he was “going to kill this motherf*****” in reference to Anthony Smith during the chase.

The comment wasn’t ruled important because of other remarks made before and after it that were inaudible, which made it lack “context.” Stockley himself admitted that he didn’t recall making the remark.
