Four-time NBA All-Star Kevin Durant was born on Sept. 29, 1988, in Suitland, Maryland, right outside of Washington, D.C.
Durant came from a sports-loving family and began his basketball journey with the Amateur Athletic Union youth basketball team in Prince George's County, Maryland. He won two national championships with the team.

By his senior year of high school, Durant was named to Parade magazine's "First Team" list, and to USA Today's "First Team All-American" list, making him a nationally recognized athlete. In 2007, Durant was drafted as the first round, second overall pick by the Seattle Supersonics, after only one year of college at the University of Texas in Austin.

Right after he signed to the Seattle Supersonics, he also signed a $60 million, seven-year endorsement deal with Nike. He remained with the franchise after they were moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and became the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Durant is only the eighth player in history to lead the league three times as the NBA scoring champion (2010-12). In 2012, Durant was chosen to play with the U.S. Olympic basketball team in London, where he and his teammates took home the gold medal.
