One thing Bun B won’t be doing is getting in the rift between his old label home, Rap-A-Lot, and Cash Money Records, the Houston native said in an interview with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club.

As an OG in the game, Bun is now focused on teaching (he currently teaches a college course on hip hop and religion), not drama. While speaking about the class with the radio show this morning (Feb. 25), Bun was asked about Rap-A-Lot’s ongoing suit against Cash Money. 

“Whatever’s going on with them has nothing to do with me. I’m a free agent,” Bun said of the suit brought on by Jas Prince, son of Rap-A-Lot's CEO, James Prince Sr. “I’m down with Rap-A-Lot for life but I’m not signed to Rap-A-Lot. J. Prince is his own man, he’s a big boy. I’m sure he don’t need my help with all of this.”

The legal war won’t get physical, Bun assured the show’s hosts, and he therefore won’t be making any “courtesy calls,” as suggested by DJ Envy. “I think other people need to make courtesy calls. I don’t need to make a call to anybody, these are all grown men...they’ve been down this road before. I honestly feel that wiser minds will prevail.”

Prince filed new paperwork against Cash Money earlier in the month. He contends that the record label owes him millions in royalties for discovering Drake.
