Talmbout Who? Gabrielle Union Says She Cut Off Friends Who Wanted To Watch Her ‘Be Miserable’

The actress recently ended a 17-year feud with Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Gabrielle Union recently opened up about her past struggles with female relationships during her appearance on Jada Pinkett-Smith's Facebook Watch talk show, Red Table Talk.

While there, she specifically recalled noticing how much some of them enjoyed seeing her miserable while pretending to be her friends.

Speaking on how detrimental those friendships were to her personal growth, she explained how she realized she needed to cut the cord.

"There are some girlfriends who want to squash you," she said. "The goal isn't to watch you evolve. The goal is to watch you be miserable. There's something that is appealing about your misery to them. Then, there are the real girlfriends who can be honest in a loving way. The goal isn't to squash you, but is to watch you evolve into the woman who you want to be."

The Breaking In star then went on to explain how getting rid of that toxic energy helped in her finding love with her now husband, Dwyane Wade.

"The idea that a good woman — or a good future wife — should have the propensity to handle enormous amounts of pain, and that's what makes you a good wife," she said. "When we got married, we had to redefine that. As an evolved person — as a healed person — I'm not interested in pain, and I'm not interested in hurting you, either. I married 'D. Wade,' and I have a marriage with Dwyane Tyrone Wade, Jr., and I'm still getting to know him."

Watch her break it all down in the episode, here.
