Fans Are Saluting Rihanna For Doing This South African Dance At The Grammys

Here's why people are still talking about Rihanna's performance.

Although people initially had mixed reviews about Rihanna’s performance at the 2018 Grammys, fans have seemed to change their tune on Twitter. Now, the Navy is celebrating Rih for including a traditional South African dance in her performance routine.

The dance that the performer included during her set with DJ Khaled and Bryson Tiller is called the Gwara Gwara dance. The popular dance move, which is native to South African culture, gained notoriety around last year thanks to artist DJ Bongz. Some unfortunate, souls have incorrectly called the dance, the “stanky leg,” which was coined by the GS Boyz in 2009. But luckily South African Twitter was quick to correct the mistake.

Of course, it wasn’t long before fans screenshot Rihanna and transformed her into the latest meme. If you haven’t caught the singer hitting the Gwara Gwara, watch it below and check out some of the Twitter reactions there as well.
