Family of Slain Chicago Rapper Blames Hoodie for His Death
Chicago police are investigating the possible link between two aspiring rappers murdered in the city’s Englewood neighborhood after Joshua “JayLoud” Davis was shot to death on Christmas night.
According to NBCChicago.com, the family of the slain 18-year-old is claiming that he was a target for his killers because he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt that paid homage to another murdered rapper from his ‘hood, Joseph “Lil JoJo” Coleman. Hip hop fans are familiar with Lil JoJo as his killing made headlines in September after Chicago rap star Chief Keef made light of the murder on Twitter.
As previously reported, Lil JoJo, a rival to Keef’s GBE crew, was gunned down in a drive-by shooting after exchanging words with Chicago upstart Lil Reese.
last night, Davis was reportedly shot several times in the torso and once in the ear after he was followed off of a city bus by his assailants. Davis’ sister believes the “JoJo World” hoodie her brother was wearing may have provoked the attack.
Police have yet to identify any suspects in the crime, but they are now looking into the rap feud as a lead.
