The Help , Attack the Block Score Box Office Wins

Both movies prove their in for lengthy success.

Four new movies were released over the weekend, but in the end none were enough to beat last weekend's second-place film for the top spot. Viola Davis’ The Help grossed $20.5 million, lifting the drama’s total gross to $71.8 million. The movie only cost $25 million to make.

Gitesh Pandya of Boxofficeguru.com told USA Today, "Sensational word of mouth is making this an event for adult women. And male business is slowly expanding, too." The Help bested Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, One Day, along with the reboots of Conan the Barbarian and Fright Night.

Another film enjoying box office success is the indie flick Attack the Block. The alien-themed British movie will be expanding its domestic run to include stints in theaters in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Washington D.C., Orlando and Phoenix. Attack the Block is an action-adventure movie centered on a teen gang that fights off an invasion of savage alien monsters.
